A truck driver was charged with driving too fast for conditions in Wednesday’s massive pileup on Interstate 90 in Washington.

The Washington State Patrol said the driver lost traction on the ice road surface, jackknifed, and set the collision in motion that wound up including some 30 vehicles including at least 12 tractor-trailers. The driver was the only motorist ticketed in the series of collisions that closed the highway for most of the day.

Driving conditions were made dangerous by freezing fog.

Three people were injured in the incident.
