As an energy industry logistics provider, Filamar Energy’s goal is to continue to set new carbon neutral CleanMile® benchmarks that reduce lifecycle emissions and CO2 levels while bringing positive impactful change to the planet without sacrificing efficiency.
Based in Houston, Filamar is bringing positive impactful change to the planet cost-effectively and without sacrificing efficiency. A large part of this initiative is allowing customers to substantially reduce their supply chain’s environmental impact with the most sustainable logistics and compressed natural gas (CNG) sand transportation.
“Our carbon-neutral logistics service will support customers who want to further decrease their environmental footprint,” said Filamar CEO Lambert Arceneaux.
Filamar currently has 146 Class-8 trucks that operate on CNG, one of the largest such fleets. The company just signed an agreement with Clean Energy Fuels Corp., the country’s largest provider of the cleanest fuel for the transportation market, for an anticipated 4.2 million gallons of CNG fuel. Filimar recently expanded the fleet with 50 new trucks that will operate on the ultra-clean fuel provided at a new station in Hennessey, OK to be built by Clean Energy.
“Clean Energy plays a vital role in the logistics chain allowing us the ability to utilize otherwise climate destructive flared methane gas as a useful fuel while at the same time reducing trucking refueling mileage,” said Arceneaux. “They share the same partnership approach to its business values that Fila does. We strongly believe that this approach offers a win-win strategy for all involved and the best avenue for our collective success.”
Clean Energy is on a mission to decarbonize transportation through the development and delivery of renewable natural gas (RNG), a clean, affordable and reliable fuel derived from organic waste. Clean Energy allows thousands of vehicles, from airport shuttles to city buses to waste and heavy-duty trucks, to reduce their amount of climate-harming greenhouse gas.
Every community in America produces waste. As that waste breaks down, it emits methane, which is a naturally occurring, but potent and harmful greenhouse gas (GHG).
RNG projects capture this methane from existing food waste, animal manure, wastewater sludge and garbage, and redirect it away from the environment, repurposing it as a clean, green energy source.
As a storable, replenishable fuel that looks and acts like natural gas, RNG provides a practical, cost-efficient and reliable energy solution – and it is available today, with hundreds of fleets already using it. Clean Energy’s goal is to provide RNG at all its stations by 2025.
“Large fleets like Filamar that fuel with RNG are able to realize immediate and significant carbon reduction,” said Clean Energy Senior Vice President Chad Lindholm. “We applaud Filamar for its commitment to lowering their carbon footprint. These efforts to decrease greenhouse gas emissions will have a positive environmental impact and serve to reduce climate change.”
“In addition to CNG’s certain environmental benefits, it also makes Fila a more efficient transportation provider by lowering fuel costs making our business and the industry as a whole more efficient,” added Arceneaux.
