Birmingham, Alabama-based P&S Transportation LLC, a subsidiary of PS Logistics (CCJ Top 250, No. 33) , announced purchase of all substantial transportation assets of Brookhaven, Mississippi-headquartered Clay’s Transport Inc., and Clays Logistics LLC — together known simply as Clay’s. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Clay’s is a privately-owned interstate trucking and brokerage company specializing in Southeastern region flatbed and maintains a fleet of 35 tractors and 50 trailers. Clay’s specializes in freight that P&S also hauls: lumber, metals and steel.
“Clay’s brings great freight synergies to both our companies as well as our customers,” said Scott Smith, CEO of PS Logistics. “It also further establishes our driver base in the Southeast and adds our first trucking terminal in Mississippi to our growing national network.”
Organizationally, Clay’s will be managed by James Waldrop as a separate division of P&S Transportation under the leadership of Houston Vaughn, president and COO of P&S Transportation. Clay’s will continue to operate under the Clay’s Transport brand name.
“P&S will be a great partner for our business,” Waldrop said. “Both of our companies are committed to our drivers and their success, and we share a positive culture that creates an ideal environment for everyone to grow and prosper.”
Since 2016, PS Logistics has successfully acquired 26 trucking and brokerage operations.
There have been 28 deals among CCJ‘s Top 250 for-hire carriers since the beginning of June, and 32 Top 250 fleets have struck 37 deals this year.
