Mississippi bridge collapses while truck is on it

A bridge in southern Mississippi collapsed into the Buffalo River Thursday, Dec. 29 while a tractor-trailer was crossing.

The Jackson Point Bridge in Woodville, about 35 miles south of Natchez, collapsed around 10:30 a.m., according to the Wilkinson County Emergency Management Agency press release. Officials said no injuries had been reported.

Authorities say county officials are working to evacuate 25 residents from the area.
