Briefly: R.E. Garrison acquires Georgia-based reefer carrier

Cullman, Alabama-based R.E. Garrison Trucking announced today it successfully completed the acquisition of certain assets of Boaty’s Transport Inc., located in Jackson, Georgia.

Boaty’s will continue to operate using its respective name and image under the R.E. Garrison family umbrella.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Boaty’s Transport Inc. was founded in 1991 by Michael Boatwright transporting produce throughout the southeastern U.S. Boaty’s has over 50 tractors and 80 refrigerated trailers.

“Boaty’s stood out to our Board of Directors because of their longstanding position within the produce industry and we are incredibly enthusiastic about Boaty’s joining the team, R.E. Garrison Trucking President and co-owner Wyles Griffith said.

Donovon Lovell Vice President and co-owner said, “Growing our business alongside Boaty’s will create a great and lasting partnership that we can both be proud of.”

Within the upcoming months, Boatwright will retire and his son, Shaun, will lead Boaty’s daily business.

R.E. Garrison is an employee-owned company specializing in refrigerated transportation, established in 1959, with over 700 drivers. 

Longtime Cummins VP retires

Earlier this week Cummins Inc. announced that after 39 years with the company, Amy Boerger, vice president and general manager – North America On-Highway, will retire at the end of March 2023.

With the announcement of her retirement, José Samperio, will assume the role of executive director and general manager, North America On-Highway.

In a statement on its website, Cummins said Boergerr began her career at the Cummins Engine Plant as the first female engineer in product engineering and became one of the first saleswomen and account executives within the company.

The company said Boerger focused her energy on cultivating customer connections and expanding the business with some of Cummins’ largest OEM customers, before heading up the global retrofit emissions business when Cummins Emissions Solutions launched in 2002. She returned to the on-highway business in 2014 as the executive director – North America Engine Business and was shortly appointed an officer of Cummins as vice president – Sales, with her continued success defining a relationship-driven approach to working with customers.

Samperio brings nearly 20 years of Cummins experience across engineering, service, strategy, and sales. His Cummins career began at the Jamestown Engine Plant as a product engineer, a service engineer, and in distribution service shop operations.
